| Q: Doesn't being part of a city
just mean another layer of government? |
A:
Eric Clarkson, Mayor of Chamblee, recently wrote in a letter
to the Brookhaven Reporter; "Cities are absolutely
not another layer of government, but rather a form of government
different than that of a county that is often too large
and too cumbersome to truly meet the challenges faced by
a local community. Cities provide heightened services and
more responsive representation where self determination
and self governance are truly the way we work."
|
| Q: Who are these people on the
committee and who do they represent? |
A:
The people on the committee are individuals who have volunteered
their time, energy, and in many cases money, to help fulfill
the group's stated mission. These are individuals, and
although we listed where they reside, the members do not
necessarily represent the views of their neighbors or their
homeowners associations. |
| Q: Can I join the committee even
if I'm not in favor of any of the options? |
A: The mission
statement of the committee is to gather and disseminate
information on annexation into an adjoining municipality
as well as studying the viablity of forming a new city.
Members of the committee volunteer their time and money
to pursue this mission. |
| Q: Where can I find the legislation
that was introduced to form a new City of Brookhaven? |
A:

study”? |
